Miranda Devine on MediaWatch

This post is primarily for Sarah, who I know reads Miranda Devine's columns in the Sydney print media. The ABC's MediaWatch recently highlighted a Devine article concerning North Queensland's Cyclone Larry, in which Devine told the victims to stop "whingeing".

Here's the link.

When Miranda Devine says stuff like that I always put it down to shit-stirring... she gets paid to write articles that stir people up, so even if it's a no-effort piece-of-crap article she will get paid for it- meaning it's just a lazy effort from her. Of course I feel I'm being charitable in saying that, the alternative being that she really believed what she wrote in that article, in which case she's an even scummier person than I thought.

I think you (and the author of the letter highlighted by MW) are right. I find it difficult to believe that a person could be so nasty about victims of the cyclone, and throw in a joke about missing their fruit on shop shelves.

I'd be interested in reading her other articles now.
